Reporting To Work and Getting a Tour

September 21, 2012
This is where Cito and Benji's offices are and where the SB hold lesilative sessions.
Today I reported to the office. Cito took me around to meet all the department heads and I visited with the mayor, Silvestre T. Lumarda.

This building houses the mayor's office, the planning department, assessor and treasurer's offices and the post office.
Monday mornings begin with a flag ceremony including prayer and national anthem.

The post office

I'm happy to report the Inipacan is very progressive on waste management and segregation of garbage.

The Municipal Environmental and Natural Resources Office (MENRO)

Cito put me in this office where I have a desk and can use the computer and
the only office with AC that works most of the time. Plus we have a couple of cute mice residents.
We went inside the new Municipal Building that’s under construction. We’ll be moving in, in November or December.
There will be room for everybody here.

It sits directly behind the legislative building which will be demolished with the area lanscaped.
Then we went out to the new Baywalk that runs along the shore. It’s beautiful with brick paving, nice lamp posts, piped music and wifi. I’ll have to try Skyping from there soon.

Looking North

Looking West to the Visayan Sea

and back to the East and the new Municipal Hall
A river enters the bay at the north end and the weekend market stalls occupy the south end. I’m told the market will be relocated soon because they think the looks of it detracts from the fancy new upscale look they’ve got going on the waterfront now. The plan is to put in a children's playground here and move the market towards the north end near the river.

Boat building going on at this end

Looking South, people can picnic here.

Picnic areas at both ends of the cobbled part and plenty of well marked garbage cans for waste segregation, YES!

Fishing boats at the south end

Tide's out and the building under construction will be a store.

The weekend market stalls
Near the market area my family, the Villarubins, are building a restaurant where they plan to serve barbequed and grilled specialties, drinks and have acoustic music. This could be awesome and what an incredibly beautiful location to watch sunsets. I’m feeling lucky to be here at a time when all these new plans are coming to fruition.

After the in town tour Chito took me to the bamboo boardwalk just south of town. It will be one kilometer long. They’re within 100 meters of completely the length. We walked out to where the guys are working on it. Many areas have already had some planting to fill in where illegal cutting occurred in the past. I spotted some orchids climbing some trees.

end of the line, the guys are working on the last 100 meters.
My first project will be signage for this boardwalk, turning it into a self-guided educational ‘nature walk’, part of eco-tourism promotion. I’ll see if I can get some high school students involved.
